There are basically three stages in raising baby twins and the first one begins with what I call the hazy stage.
This is the stage when you and your newborns come home form the hospital and you are trying very hard to handle various tasks at once including taking care of your babies and getting to know them at the same time. If you have older children you still need to deal with them as well. This is the stage that all you will do is feed, wash and try to rest. Being so tired and working around the clock makes this stage hazy! Be grateful that it will pass soon.
By the third month, most babies have a nice routine and maybe even sleeping for longer hours at night and this is the time you come out of this stage. Somewhere around 5-6 months, you enter the golden age of twin-hood parenting. By this time your babies are more awake and less demanding. They sleep longer at one time and are not mobile yet. You may even be able to get one or two chores done around the house! The duration of this golden stage is different for every mother. Once your twins or even one of them start to crawl then you enter the next stage.
During their mobility or rather danger stage you must be careful and follow them all the time. It won’t be long before they are standing and walking. And once babies learn a new skill they love practicing it over and over and over again. Make sure all plugs are covered so they do not put anything in. Also put all sharp, breakable or valuable objects at higher levels out of their reach. Now if you are lucky they will try to master their skill such as walking at different times. Lets just hope one baby is lazier than the other or our task would be even harder.
No matter what stage your babies are in now, just remember to cherish it since it shall pass too soon, even if you may not think or feel that way at the time.
